This novel is the first of a trilogy that covers 100 years in the lives of an American family. The book starts with a couple who are starting out on their Iowa farm in 1920 and ends as the children now have their own children. One couple live-in New York City and one in Washington DC. They have shared memories of WWI, experienced the great depression, and WWII. There is an aunt that moves to Chicago and marries a Jewish man and when he is killed in WWII she moves to San Francisco with her daughter. Toward the end of the book she is being interviewed by the un-American Activities people. I really liked Some Luck and can't wait to get to the second book of the trilogy.
