Heather The Totality by Matthew Weiner

by

A few years ago my older sister left me a book that she had finished and didn't want to keep.  She kind of chuckled when she handed it to me.  Now not to be critical, but I would describe my older sister as proper.  Although I wouldn't say she was totally no fun or anything like that, I would not consider her wild at all.  So I kind of thought it was a religious book and I wasn't particularly interested.  So it set on my shelf.  Recently I have found myself occasionally in a setting where I am not allowed screen time.  I usually read via my kindle app on my iPad so this is an opportunity to catch up on some of the hard copy books people have given me after they finished them because they know I like to read.  I picked up this particular book first because it is a very short book and I knew I would get through it quickly.  As I began to read I was shocked that my sister had given me this book. The sex started by page six and there were not too many pages where sex wasn't mentioned.   Even though labeled the "wild sister" in our family,  I was a bit put off.  It is not a book that I would have selected to read had I been looking for a book to read.  In fact, most of the way though the book I was rather offended and not looking forward to the ending.  I was sure it was headed to  an upsetting train wreck of a conclusion.  So much so that I almost didn't finish it.  Then to my surprise the ending was absolutely delightful.  So if you don't get pink in the cheeks very easily then you might enjoy this book.  I am not going to to recommend the book but leave you to choose if you want to read it or not.  You can click on the book title and author's name above if you want more information.  And enjoy the video that follows if you want.   I mean really,  who am I going to give this book to?  I have no idea.

A Different Mirror by Ronald Takaki

by

In Ohio there is something called Program60 where people over aged 60 can audit college classes at no charge.  I have been auditing an online class once each year for the last three years.  This year I just completed a class offered by Ohio State University about immigration in the United States from the early 1600's to the present.   Our text book was A Different Mirror by Ronald Takaki.  It is a fascinating look at all the different ethnic groups that have immigrated to the US over the centuries, their experiences and their contributions.   It was a very interesting read and not at all like reading a text book.  I highly recommend it.  Please click on the author's name and book title above for more information about the book.  And enjoy the video that follows.  It is a video that was shown at the author's funeral and is a tribute to his life.

Essential Oil Email Class Launched!

This past week or so I have been working hard to pull together information for an email class on Essential Oils and Brain Health.   I am ready to launch it!  Whether or not you are a student wanting to be as sharp as possible,  a mom who wants to give her child the edge in school or a senior who wants to hold on to as many brain cells as possible for as long as possible like I am,  this class is for you.   It will cover information about oils in general,  it will have some Young Living specific information, and it will have some information that is not oil related but pertains to cognition.  It was my plan to have something for everyone.  I am excited as several people have already asked to be included in the first group which will start 4/13/2020. There are a few housekeeping rules about the class.  They are:

1) there is no charge for the class. zero.

2) the class consists of five emails

3) each email will have a pdf file attached that is the lesson of the day

4) I will send out class #1 on Monday and then one daily through Friday.  Every Monday will start a new group.  So if you miss getting in on one Monday you will only have to wait a week till the next group starts.

5) In order to enroll all you have to do is get your email address to me.  I can be reached on fb messenger or twitter messenger.  If you are having trouble reaching me with either of those platforms then leave a comment here and let me know.

I hope you are all staying healthy and look forward to interacting with you for this email class.
