Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

by

The March selection for my library's daytime book group was Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.  It has been in my audible app since I first started listening to it in February.  I finally finished listening to it this morning.   It is not a bad book but very young adult like and the story really didn't suck me in.  It is a story of haves and have nots.  It is a story of freedom verses stability.  A single mom, who lives with her teenaged daughter in a transient lifestyle, rents a home in an affluent Cleveland suburb from an upper middle class mom of four teenagers.  The friendships that form change them all.  Hulu made an original series out of the book.  This novel won all sorts of awards and many people loved it.  Please follow the links by clicking on the book title and the author's name above.  And enjoy the video trailer of the TV series that follows.

Marjoram Essential Oil

Marjoram Essential Oil is one that I use on a regular basis.  I do  limit how much of it I use because one of the supplements I take is Turmeric.  Both Turmeric and Marjoram affect blood clotting.  This is good to a limited degree but it is important to not have the blood too thin.  So I take my Turmeric in the morning and my Marjoram at bedtime.  Marjoram relaxes so bedtime is a good time to take it.  Here is a link to the Marjoram page at the online Aromatherapy Bible.  Although it is thought to have originated in Asia, Marjoram can now be found growing all over.  I add Marjoram to my day for its anti-inflammatory affect.  To obtain Marjoram follow this LINK and  also do enjoy the video below about the various uses for Marjoram Essential Oil.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley

by

On the flight home from Phoenix, Monday morning, I finished up reading The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.  It was actually January's selection of the local library book group so I am way behind on this one.  Mysteries are not my genre of choice but I do enjoy an occasional one and this book did entertain me.  It is about a very bright  young girl named Flavia who loves chemistry.  She is a person who is curious about the world.  A dead body shows up in her family's garden and her father is arrested.  Flavia sets out to solve the mystery.   She is in danger at times and there are exciting parts to this book.  My main complaint about mysteries overall is that I usually have them solved way before the story ends.  While I was right about "who done it",  in this case I was not able to piece together the particulars till it was explained.  Therefore the book was better than many mysteries are for me.   Please click on the author's name and book title above to follow the links to more information and enjoy the video that follows.  In my opinion the book is G rated and suitable for all audiences.
