Birthday Gift

As you may know,  I turned 53 the end of last month.   Mark took me out for fillet mignon at Logan's the week before.   Yesterday,  he put landscaping timbers around my back flower bed off of my deck!  This is something I have wanted done since I purchased my condo seven years ago!!

  1. Probably too late in the year for any veggies in your new garden ... I've been away from the snow country for so many years I can't think of anything that grows all winter, except probably rhubarb.

  2. I love the way your patio bed looks... youngin! Happy birthday! I can call you youngin from here on out if I want to LOL... Plan for a nice mix of flowers and some herbs! That would be what I would do... Stick a few veggie plants in the mix... lots of room! I have a blend of nutrients commonly referred to as "dog food" that would really enhance your soil. From the remarks above - you must live in the northern part of the country -- I will just be thinking about my fall garden - then if we have a hard winter (I'm on the gulf coast of FL) things will die out - then in Feb plan for the spring garden... it's just too hot here in the summer. The only herbs I have managed to keep alive is Thai basil, a couple hot pepper plants, and chives. My rosemary is big and it survives the heat and the cold.

  3. Hi Tim, thanks for checking in. I don't plant veggies in my flower beds. I do frequent the farm stands in the summer months.

  4. Rosie how did you know I plant flowers and herbs? I only do so in the spring though. I don't put out a fall garden. I am in the midwest - northeast Indiana.
