I have always had an interest in the Trail Of Tears and wanted to know more so when I saw this novel I thought a historical novel would be a route to try and understand the experience. Although I enjoyed the book, I felt the first three quarters of the book was more about the Jewish peddler experience than the Native American experience. But then, the last quarter of the book pulled it all together and the novel made a lasting impression on me.
